Things to know before buying baby clothes
The prospect of a new baby is both exciting and nerve wrecking. However, you should keep in mind that your baby won’t be such a small bundle of joy forever. When shopping for baby clothes, keep in mind that babies grow quickly in their first weeks of life. Most babies only fit newborn clothing for a very short period of time and some don’t fit at all. Newborn sized clothing should make up only a small portion of your baby’s wardrobe.
Make sure you buy easy to take care of baby clothing. Clothing that cannot be washed and dried by a machine is too much effort for new parents. Make sure to check all the labels of any new clothes you are considering for your newborn. You’d be surprised at the amount of baby clothing which is hand wash or dry clean only. These items might be cute, but in the end, they’ll be more headache than they’re worth.
The most important thing, is to keep your babies’ comfort in mind. Metal snaps and zippers can cause discomfort if they’re placed in the wrong place or are tight against the skin. Always look for clothing that has a piece of fabric which rests between your baby and the zipper and check that all snaps have no rough edges.
